SIBIONICS showcases GS3 as part of AI-driven ecosystem for enhanced diabetes management in Melbourne

SIBIONICS unveils its GS3 continuous glucose monitor at a Melbourne congress, positioning it within a broader AI-assisted diabetes management ecosystem that integrates sensor data, meal logging, and future ketone tracking.

SIBIONICS used a diabetes congress in Melbourne to pitch the GS3 as more than another glucose sensor, presenting it as part of a broader move towards AI-assisted diabetes management. The company said the device was shown at the joint IDF-WPR, ADC and Metabolic Diseases 2026 meeting, alongside a scientific symposium and interviews with credentialled diabetes educators. According to SIBIONICS, the aim is to combine sensor data with meal logging, food analysis and trend insight so users can move more quickly from readings to action.

The GS3 is a continuous glucose monitor designed for people aged three and above with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, according to material on SIBIONICS’s website. The company says it offers 14-day wear, Bluetooth connectivity and in-app reporting, while promotional material for the device describes it as 2.9 mm thick and 1.5 g in weight. The company also says the sensor is intended to be easy to set up and comfortable to wear.

At the Melbourne symposium, which SIBIONICS said it co-hosted with Air Liquide Healthcare, speakers from Australia and China discussed how continuous glucose monitoring could evolve alongside ketone tracking and AI. Among those named by the company were David O’Neal of the University of Melbourne, Shannon Lin of the University of Technology Sydney and Wei Qiang of Xi’an Jiaotong University’s First Affiliated Hospital. SIBIONICS said feedback from diabetes educators at the event pointed to interest in features such as spike detection, simplified meal logging and clearer links between glucose swings and food intake, while also stressing that technology should support, not replace, professional care.

The company’s wider pitch is that GS3 sits inside a larger technology platform, not a single-product rollout. SIBIONICS says it is working towards an ecosystem that could eventually connect glucose sensing with ketone monitoring, insulin delivery and other diabetes tools. That would place it in a fast-moving part of diabetes technology where manufacturers are increasingly trying to turn raw readings into personalised guidance rather than just streams of data.
