Fooducate Pro boosts food shopping smarts with discounted health insights and personalised tracking

Fooducate Pro, an advanced food tracking app priced at $40, offers shoppers detailed labels, personalised health plans, and a holistic approach to food quality, disrupting traditional calorie counters.

Fooducate Pro positions itself as more than a basic calorie counter, aiming to help shoppers make sense of the health claims splashed across supermarket packaging. The service is being sold at $40 for new users, down from a regular price of $199.99, and its appeal lies in the promise that a phone can do some of the label-reading work that most people would rather avoid.

At the centre of the app is a barcode scanner that pulls up a food grade, nutritional breakdown and ingredient notes when a product is scanned. Fooducate says the tool can also be used to compare items and identify healthier alternatives, while its help centre explains that users can also search by product or brand name, or browse by food category. That places the app closer to a shopping companion than a simple diary.

The tracking side is broader than meal logging alone. According to Fooducate’s own materials, users can record snacks, water intake, exercise, weight changes, macronutrients, sleep, mood and hunger, with support for diets such as vegan, keto, paleo, gluten-free and low FODMAP. The company also says Pro members can access personalised plans for low-carb eating, heart health and women’s health, alongside ad-free use, priority support and weekly email advice.

Fooducate’s approach is built around the idea that food quality matters as much as totals and macros. The app assigns grades to foods, with one review noting that it uses an A-to-D style system, and it also offers recipes, podcasts, tips and a community feed. That said, the same review suggested the interface can feel crowded, which may mean the app suits users who want a feature-rich toolkit more than those seeking a stripped-back diary.
