Welsh Academy for Nursing in Diabetes prepares for annual conference amid evolving care landscape

Registration has opened for the Welsh Academy for Nursing in Diabetes annual conference, a free event for diabetes specialist nurses in Wales, offering updates, discussions, and networking opportunities amid ongoing advancements in diabetes care and technology.

Registration has opened for the Welsh Academy for Nursing in Diabetes annual conference, a free event aimed at diabetes specialist nurses working across Wales. The meeting will take place on Friday 2 October 2026 at the Leonardo Hotel in Cardiff and is intended to give delegates a day of learning, discussion and networking.

The programme will cover national updates, paediatric diabetes, insulin safety, type 1 diabetes and other topics relevant to nursing practice. WAND says the conference is designed to help nurses share experience, compare approaches to care and keep up with developments in a field where guidance and technology continue to evolve.

WAND describes itself as an educational forum supporting diabetes specialist nurses in Wales, with a wider focus on professional education, clinical competence, management skills and research. Its resources include e-learning, revalidation support and reflection tools, while its work also overlaps with the Welsh Endocrine and Diabetes Society, which supports specialist physicians and collaborates with WAND on diabetes education in Wales.

The conference is open to registered diabetes specialist nurses supporting people living with diabetes in Wales. WAND said the event has been funded through sponsorship from several pharmaceutical and MedTech companies, but stressed that the sponsors have had no editorial input into the agenda, content development or choice of speakers.
