Beta Bionics expands beyond its flagship iLet pump with the FDA approval of Mint, a reusable patch pump, signalling a strategic shift towards a multi-device platform and advanced algorithms to ensure sustained growth in diabetes care.
Beta Bionics is positioning itself as more than a one-product insulin delivery business after the US Food and Drug Administration cleared Mint, its new patch pump, according to a Seeking Alpha analysis of the company’s latest move. The article argues that the clearance gives the diabetes technology group a second growth driver alongside iLet, and that the broader strategy is shifting towards a platform built around multiple devices and algorithms.
The company said Mint is designed with a reusable-and-disposable format that does not need charging, and that it works with leading continuous glucose monitors while offering smartphone control for iPhone and Android users. Beta Bionics now expects full US launch in the first quarter of 2027, having previously guided to a later timeline, and it has said manufacturing is being scaled to support at least 1.5 million disposable Mint units in 2027.
Alongside the pump, Beta Bionics has also submitted 3D Intelligence, its next-generation dosing algorithm, to the FDA through a 510(k) filing. The company said it plans to bring the software to the US by the end of 2026 as iLet 3D, then pair it with Mint at full launch as Mint 3D, subject to regulatory clearance. Market commentary has noted that the algorithm is built around three modes, including an existing setting already used by more than 40,000 people.
The Mint clearance also appears to be reshaping the company’s near-term revenue profile. Investing.com reported that the shares rose after the announcement, while Beta Bionics cut its 2026 revenue forecast to $121 million to $126 million from $131 million to $136 million. The company said some prospective iLet users may wait for Mint, which could defer as much as $10 million in fourth-quarter revenue, even as the broader portfolio creates what analysts describe as a more durable growth story.
