Ismailia hosts interactive diabetes awareness session for children and families

The General Authority for Healthcare in Ismailia organises an inclusive session aimed at empowering children with diabetes and their mothers through practical advice and psychological support, as part of a broader health promotion initiative.

The General Authority for Healthcare in Ismailia will hold an educational and awareness session for children living with diabetes and their mothers on Saturday, 29 August 2026, at 10am at the Ismailia Medical Complex. The authority says the event is intended to help families better understand the condition and build confidence in managing it day to day.

According to the authority, the session will focus on practical guidance for monitoring blood sugar levels, following treatment plans and keeping to a suitable diet. It will also include psychological support for children and advice for mothers on how to offer positive, steady help at home. Organisers say the meeting will be interactive, with health information presented in a simple form suited to children and their families.

The event fits into a wider push in Ismailia to strengthen prevention and health education. Local health teams have recently staged other awareness meetings on diabetes under the “Live It Healthily” programme, which stressed early detection, healthy eating, physical activity and regular follow-up. Separate child-focused efforts, including the “Sugar Hero” initiative backed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and a civil society partner, show that diabetes awareness is increasingly being framed as both a medical and a family support issue.
