Anvisa said online promotions for Glifit and Glicofit implied unauthorised therapeutic benefits, including improved insulin action and pancreatic cleansing.
Brazil’s health regulator has ordered the removal of online advertising for two dietary supplements that claimed to control blood glucose, after finding that the products were being promoted with health promises not approved by the agency. According to Anvisa, the action covers Glifit and Glicofit, both produced by Vita Nutriom Saúde & Bem Estar Ltda., and was set out in Resolution-RE No. 4,224, published on 27 October 2026.
The regulator said internet adverts for the drops went beyond acceptable supplement marketing by promising rapid blood sugar control, improved insulin action and fewer glucose spikes. The materials also presented the products as glucose regulators and suggested they could help keep the pancreas “clean” and functioning properly, claims Anvisa considered misleading because they implied therapeutic effects without authorisation.
Anvisa said the measure applies only to the advertising of the two products online. It does not, on the information released by the agency, amount to a ban on manufacturing or sales. The distinction matters in Brazil’s supplement market, where products may be sold, but their promotion is tightly restricted and cannot imply treatment, cure or unapproved health benefits.
The agency also warned that misleading supplement advertising can amount to a sanitary infraction and may constitute a crime under Brazil’s Consumer Protection Code. Its wider rules bar claims that supplements can treat diseases or deliver benefits such as weight loss, better concentration, stronger immunity or improved sexual performance without regulatory approval. The same limits also apply to claims linked to conditions including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, fibromyalgia and autism spectrum disorder.
