Canal 2 TV reported that clinicians examined patients’ feet for wounds, pressure points and other warning signs, while also providing follow-up care and advice on managing the condition.
The event highlighted the importance of daily foot hygiene, healthy eating and regular medical reviews, especially for older people living with diabetes. Health workers at the centre said early screening can help reduce the risk of serious problems and support a better quality of life.
According to El 19 Digital, nursing students from the Universidad Nacional Héroes de San José de las Mulas took part in the health fair through the Carlos Fonseca Amador Programme. The outlet said the activity also served as practical training, giving students direct contact with the community while they helped deliver preventive care.
The Yolanda Mayorga Centre, which is linked to the university, offers free services that include gynaecological care as well as prevention, assessment and monitoring for different health needs.
